How to Vote from Home in 3 Easy Steps

Step One

In order to vote from home, you must fill out an application for your ballot to be mailed to you from the Department of Elections. You can do this in one of two ways:
Option A: Request an absentee ballot online.

Option B: Print and mail this absentee ballot application form (just page 3) to Department of Elections, 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax, VA 22030.
You must provide one of the eligible reason codes (from page 4) why you are submitting an absentee ballot application form.

According to the Virginia Department of Elections, all voters may choose reason “2A - My disability or illness” for absentee voting in the May 5, 2020 election due to COVID-19. No other supporting information is required.
The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for the May 5, 2020 election to be mailed to you is 5:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. It is strongly encouraged that you submit your application as soon as possible.

After submitting your request, a ballot will be mailed to you.

Step Two

After a ballot is mailed to you, cast your vote for up to six candidates for City Council, one for Mayor, and up to five for School Board.

Step Three

Mail your ballot to: Department of Elections, 10455 Armstrong Street, Fairfax, VA 22030.
It is strongly encouraged that you mail your ballot in as soon as possible so that the Department of Elections receives your ballot prior to Election Day, May 5, 2020.
